Kevin Bun – Major: Architectural Engineering Technology, GPA: 3.56
Expected Graduation Date: May 2019

After 3 semesters at WestConn studying computer science, Kevin switched to NCC to study Architecture. He is working toward getting his Associate Degree at NCC and then to transfer to a four-year institution to complete his Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture. He is the son of a single parent; he and his mother live in New Milford so it is a long and expensive commute for Kevin. Upon receiving the scholarship, Kevin states: “As I begin my third semester here, I have come to appreciate the accessibility and quality of education offered and have explored both the creative and technical facets of my field as a student in the Architectural Engineering Technology program. Thank you for this scholarship. I will be able to focus more on my studies and participate more on campus without the shadow of financial stress or additional jobs needed to supplement my income.”

Rodrigo Romo – Major: Architectural Engineering Technology, GPA: 3.05
Expected Graduation Date: May 2019

Rodrigo was raised in Ecuador and arrived at JFK airport in June 2016 to begin a new adventure in the US. After a year of working, Rodrigo applied for and was accepted for in-state tuition at NCC.   He is an active participant in campus life, including joining both the Model United Nations and Architecture clubs. He has been involved in Model UN since he was 12 years old and this past November he traveled to Washington DC to represent NCC in National Model United Nations, and now looks forward to being more involved in the club and sharing his experience with future new members.   Rodrigo is grateful for the opportunities this scholarship award will provide him, stating, “Receiving this scholarship will help reduce my financial burdens and provide assistance for me as I continue pursuing my education. It has given me the opportunity to not only get an Associate Degree from NCC, but to also pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in the future. This scholarship is making a big change in my life.”
